Arab Street

One of my favorite places in Singapore, so far, is Arab Street. It's a district with colonial houses that have all kinds of bars (usually arabic bars, though). The atmosphere there is amazing. Each bar has it's own personality with tropical plants, decorative graffitis and little tables with shishas around them. You can enjoy all kinds of food and very good tea (however usually no alcohol, due to the high number of muslim bar owners) while you watch the exageratedly expensive cars drive by (a huge contrast to the scenery).
Here are some pictures of the bars:

The tea is served very nicely in traditional teapots.

The district is so genuine, you often forget you are  in Singapore... until one of the sky-scrapers in the background kindly reminds you of that little detail. I call the one on the picture "Gotham-building" because it looks JUST like the one in batman - I'll show pictures some time.

Again the colonial houses with the palms and the little bars (and of course the tourists in the formt, that make the picture truly genuine (Well, who am I to talk, you should have seen me running around with the camera like a huge "please, rob me" sign. Not that these signs are very effective here, though, in Singapore you can walk around with banknotes glued to your body and noone would take them...))

Anyhow... you walk through the streets ant what is it that you see in the background?

Of course it is a huge mosque with a roof like aladdin's castle! What else would you expect?

Well, this is Arab Street. Whoever comes to visit me can be sure that's where I'll take him! :)

"Ahh, schau, eine normale blonde Chinesin mit grossen Augen, die super hoch ist, neeein, moment sie hat eine Kamera, sie muss eine Ausländerin sein" :P die Fotos sind aber voll cool, da hat es sich gelohnt sich als guiri zu etpuppen =)
